Pamilya,
Can you believe I've already been
gone two weeks?!?!? Craziness. There is SO much I have to tell you and I
would really like to send some pictures too. The link to the blog won't
work, but I'm sure it looks great.
So last week we were able to go the temple and it was great! It was
kind of weird seeing so many young workers there along with all young
people in the session. But it felt so good to be there again. Last week I
forgot to tell you that I am senior companion for the first three weeks
we are here then it will switch to Sis. Wilkes. It has been kind of
hard being the one to take charge of lessons and such because there is
SO much I want to say in our lessons, but I can say maybe 2 words of it
in Tagalog, so we've had to work on that, and I really feel like our
companionship is getting much stronger. I have a great companion!!
On Sunday,
Sis. Harris and I had to say goodbye again to Elder Neely because he
got moved to the other MTC. It was really depressing and not very fun,
but we were able to meet up after the devotional and Sister Monson's
funeral. (Which was SO powerful. Not to mention the totally amazing
speaker we had before). So my Sunday was all really good minus the fact that we probably won't get to see Elder Neely till he gets home:/
But also on that Sunday Sis. Wilkes and I went to choir and I sat by Sis. Harris and then on Tuesday
we had another practice and sang in the devotional. But during the
devotional they film all of it and have like the fancy camera shots like
at conference. So of course near the end of the song they totally zoom
in on Sis. Harris and I and I like looked up and saw myself then looked
back at the music and I could just feel my face get super red. It was
super embarrassing, but after our zone was like WE SAW YOU!!! Haha it
was great. So we are pretty much famous now ;)
On Monday
night after our class got over and we did our planning, our zone went
out in the hall and sang "Called to Serve" in Tagalog and it was SO
awesome!! I loved it. We have a really loud zone because we have a bunch
of black Polynesian Elders in our zone, so after we sang, we went
outside and had like this team huddle sort of thing and did this cheer
and everyone was pretty much starring at us, but it was way fun.
I love our branch president so much (pres. Smith). He said that the
Philippines is the 2nd fastest growing number of members right now,
while Tonga is the first! How cool is that?! I am so excited to be going
there and be able to help so many people who are ready to hear the
gospel is going to be so amazing!!
On Thursday,
one of our sisters had to go home. Her mom died like a week before she
came here, but she still felt like she should come. But this week she
decided she needed to be with her family. She is from Samoa, so she will
be home for 6 months then come back out. She is going to the San Pablo
mission, so our branch pres. said that there is a very good possibility
that one of us going to San Pablo could be her trainer, and it made me
feel more at ease with the situation because she is such a nice girl and
such a hard worker. Our district definitely misses her.
Also my zone loved the cookies and pretty much everyone was able to
share them with the rest of our district cause they were so big. Also I
love the package you sent me and I seriously love the bag that was in
there! You guys are so great and I love all the DearElder's you all send
me. Everyone in our district is super jealous of how many I get. Sis.
Wilkes told her family as a joke last week that our district was having a
completion to see who could get the most letters, so I got a really
nice letter from her dad to "help" with my letter count. It was very
nice of him.
I love you guys so much and I love that I am learning so much. I
can pretty much say a prayer now and bear my testimony. I am also
learning a lot of vocab on a program called TALL (i forgot what it
stands for) but its pretty much just like doing flashcards and stuff.
But you can listen to some one say it as much as you want and you can
even record yourself saying it too, so that has helped me a TON. The
other day I tried to teach my self "head, shoulder's, Knees, and toes,
but the word for toe itself is daliri ng paa.... ha so I am going to
have to learn a different song.
Please keep the letters coming and Pictures!!! I loved that one of Hayden :)
Mahal Kita!
Love,
Sister Mecham
